Nia Simpson is a product design engineer based in Bath, UK. In 2018, she graduated with a 1st-class Honours MEng in Mechanical Engineering with Advanced Design and Innovation. Now, she has won a University of Bath Alumni Innovation Award to commercialise her final year project - ‘Compact Cane’ for visually impaired people.
She has accumulated 15 months’ design engineering experience at DCA Design International, a leading product design consultancy, and Guided Ultrasonics Ltd., the world leader in guided wave pipe testing equipment. In this time, she has liaised with with global corporations, including Sanofi SA and GSK, to deliver high-quality technical solutions through product development and testing.
Nia is a confident and accomplished graduate with a University-supported opportunity to create a socially-driven tech startup Compact Cane Ltd. From October 2018, she embarks on new journey to build her business skills, develop her product from idea to manufacture, and become the next influential social entrepreneur of her generation.
In her spare time, she enjoys playing one of her many instruments and cooking for her food social enterprise ‘stoodentfoodie’.
